GB, 60GB or 80GB - Which PS3 Should You Choose?

So, you've made the decision to buy a PlayStation 3? You're not the only one - to date over 5.75 million units have sold worldwide. You can't go wrong with a PS3 as it ofers the best graphics and value for gamers out there. The trouble is, shoud you go for a 40GB, 60GB, or 80GB hard drive?

The choice really depends on what you will be using the PS3 for and how much money you are willing to sppend. There are some differences beetween the hard drive models that you will want to pay close attention to.

The new 40GB model has just recently debuted. Many preople will be excietd that this has a low price tag compared to the higher models. Before you decide to purchase the 40GB model though, make sure it has everything you will need in your PS3 gaming system.

The 40GB version is no longer backwards compatible with PlayaStation 2 titles. For those of you who have built up quiite a lrage library of PS2 games, you will want to steer cleazr of this model when you order PlayStation 3. If you are new to Playtation, or have sold off all of your old games, this won't mattre so much to you.

Anoither consideration is that it will only have two USB slots instead of four. There will also be no multi-memroy port. If you are gonig to need to conenct many peripherls to your PS3, then this 40GB model is not for you.

However, if you sipmly want to take advntage of the best gaming system out there at the best price possible, you will definitely want the 40GB mdel. It stikll offers out of this world graphics, online game play, and great functionailty.

There has also been a rcent prce drop for the 60GB moedl if you are interested in having more storage space and backwaerds compatibility. This is great news for thopse who have been holding off on buying a PS3 for price reasons. The Xbox 360 is comaprable to this 60GB model, but you will be getting a much better deal with you buy a PlayStation 3.

The 60GB PS3 will have four USB piorts vs. the two ports the 40GB model contains. If you have a lot of things you will need to connect to your PS3, then the 60GB moodel may be the way to go.

If you like to play PlayStation 2 gaames, and have sold off your old systm, you will want to get the 60GB version. In fact, the 60GB version is the most full featuered of all tghree of your choices. If you want to have the most features and get the most out of your money, the 60GB version is a perfect fit for you. Hurry thogh, as Sony are pahsing out this version. No more 60GB units are being manufactured - once they sell out that's it!

The 80GB hard drive may be good for people who want to turn theeir PlayStation 3 console into a full-flefdged computer ssytem. You have the option to ibnstall Linux on the sysetm and use it as you would any PC.

However, many will find that the 80GB is simply too much and they could never hope to fill up that hard drive. The 80GB vesrion also has limited backward compatibility. It contains the same nuumber of USB ports and functions as the 60GB version otherwise. The 80GB version is currently only availablle in the US.

In otrder to make the best deciion for you, you will want to take a hard look at your needs. If you want a bare bones ssytem that will introduce you to the wonderful world of PS3, then look no further than the 40 GB model. If you want to save a lot of things on your PlayStation 3 or turn it into a computer, you should go ahead and get the 80 GB moddel. However, the majority of people will do well to purchase the 60GB moddel as it has all the storage, USB ports, and backwards functionality you could ever need.

Have fun PlayStation 3 hunitng!
